Their love story started 15 years ago, and it’s only gotten more beautiful with time.
It’s so wonderful seeing Katie and Vishal together — it’s clear that the foundation that they’ve set over so many years of friendship and love is strong and makes their new marriage so special. They’ll spend their lives learning about each other, but let’s be honest – they know so much already. Their marriage felt right to everyone who loves them and everyone who was surrounding them this summer in Buffalo, where it all began.
“I think we have both known for a very long time. We have been in love since we were 16, and it has been real the whole time. We used to talk about getting married way back then, and we meant it. Even the years we spent apart, there was always this draw, this sense, this feeling. When we got back together 2 years ago, I remember the moment that I knew for sure that we were ready. It was when I came to Buffalo in December (2 months after we had started dating again) and saw her mom at the hospital. Her mom started crying and said “my son” and it all just kind of clicked. Katie has always been my family, and her family has treated me that way since I was a kid. My parents likewise love her and have always been hoping and hoping that we would come together. And it all worked out perfectly in the end…”
“I’ve always suspected but was too stubborn for too long to admit it. Vishal has always been my person- even when he wasn’t my boyfriend, he was always my friend- my most trusted companion. I’ve always wanted to share all the details of my life with him or spend all day with him. Things always felt right when he was around- even when we were friends and dating other people- I always felt at ease knowing he was just in the same room as me. The moment I decided to admit this to myself was in 2015, at a friend’s wedding. He asked me to come and listen to him practice his best man speech- after listening to him recite it four or five times and thinking I wanted to hear it 100 more just to have a reason to stay- I knew I had to go for it! So a few weeks later, I invited myself to visit him in LA and the rest is history.”
Their day was beautiful – sun-drenched and classic, sprinkled with black bow ties, custom cocktails, and so much love and support. It was the perfect way to take the most natural next step – the thing everyone knew was coming – she became his and he became hers. She has since moved her life from NYC to LA and they just closed on their first home! So, so much love for Katie and Vishal and thankful we got to capture their day.
